The Boot Camp Excuse

by Devanshu Mehta May 12, 2006

I recently had my first experience of a company using Boot Camp as an excuse for not supporting the Mac. Of course, the following points must be taken into consideration:

  • The company is Microsoft.
  • They used this excuse for their web site that supports only IE.
  • And they don’t support Linux, or non-IE browsers on Windows either.

Here is the exact quote of the MSN support person:

Your Macintosh can be used with Virtual PC or Bootcamp which enables you to run XP. As a result, you will be able to access Microsoft adCenter.

This is for the privilege to advertise on MSN. Let us ask our potential advertisers to buy a new operating system so that they advertise with us! Brilliant!

  • @ediedi, you mean this link: https://adcenter.msn.com/Signup.aspx works for you in Safari? Doesn’t for me…
